Museum and Estate Voorlinden - Wassenaar

N 52.1185417 / E 4.3458785

Museum Voorlinden is a private museum showcasing impressive conceptual and modern art at Voorlinden Estate. During the 17th century various estates were founded in the surrounding area of The Hague, as was Voorlinden. At the beginning of the 19th century, at Voorlinden, gardens were built in a landscape design by J.D. Zocher Sr (1791-1870) and later complemented by his son J.D. Zocher Jr (1820-1915). When Voorlinden was taken over by Esquire Hugo Loudon in 1912, he commissioned the construction of the present day country house, which is home to a restaurant. The internationally renowned Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf has recently designed the gardens around the museum building. These form a wonderful backdrop for some lovely country walks around the estate.
