Already before 1870 there was a mill on this spot. It is known that a Jan Francis rented this mill to be able to exercise his profession as miller. The mill burned down in 1891. The owner at the time took out a loan to be able to build a new mill. There are several indications that this new mill was used as a polder mill in Bleskensgraaf.
In 1965 the mill underwent a restoration and the name of the mill was changed from 'Ludolizawi' (a fusion of the names of the former owners) to 'Laurentia'.
