Het Loo Palace Gardens - Apeldoorn

N 52.2342245 / E 5.9459853

Het Loo Palace is known as the most beautiful estate in Holland. It is therefore often called the Versailles of Holland. The many furnished rooms and chambers inside and around the palace tell illustrious tales about the royal family, the family of Orange. In 1684 lieutenant Willem III purchased the medieval hunting palace Het Loo including all adjacent buildings, woodlands, estates and waterways. The palace itself is currently closed for a substantial renovation and will reopen in 2021. The stunning gardens however, are still open. Just as other European royal dynasties, William III sought to impress guests with his new home and make quite clear to them just how aristocratic he was. Willem married Mary II Stuart, the daughter of the English king, and ascended the English throne with her in 1689.
Both of them were huge fans of garden architecture and garden art. Make sure to pay a visit to the gardens as you will be deeply impressed by its generous layout and design.
