Het Loo Palace Gardens - Apeldoorn

Het Loo Palace is considered one of the most beautiful country estates in the Netherlands. Het Loo is also popularly known as the Versailles of the Netherlands. The many decorated halls and rooms in and around the palace tell the fascinating history of the royal family, the Oranges.

In 1684, Stadholder Willem III bought the medieval hunting lodge Het Loo with all its buildings, woods, lands and watercourses. Like other European royal houses, Willem III wanted his new residence to impress visitors and show them how distinguished he was. William married the English king's daughter Mary II Stuart, with whom he ascended the English throne in 1689. Both were great lovers of garden architecture and garden art.

Be sure to visit the gardens: you will be impressed by the design and generous size.
