Groeneveld Castle - Baarn

N 52.2186246 / E 5.254874

Groenveld is a classic country house. Here the house, the outbuildings, the garden and the park are a tightly designed whole. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the farm in front of the house only supplied products for the residents and their guests. Around 1700 Andries Mamuchet acquires a simple homestead that transforms his son into a stylish house. Around 1730, the estate has grown into a beautiful entity with an orangery, coach house and gardener's house, while the park is praised for its design and planting. The brothers Bruno and Jan Lucas van der Dussen also spare no effort to embellish Groeneveld. They provide the house with two semi-circular wings. Groeneveld regularly changes owners until Agneta M.C. Taets van Amerongen-van Reenen sells it to the Forestry Commission in February 1940. The gardens of Groeneveld have often served as a backdrop for television series. The loyal fans of Pipo the Clown, for example, will be familiar with the park.
