Dutch Reformed Church Ameide - Ameide
In the middle of the Zuid-Holland village of Ameide stands the Dutch Reformed Church. It has been there since the 15th century and could tell a lot if the walls could speak. In the tower a bell from 1608 hangs. In 1943, the Germans threw the bell out of the tower, but the ship that was to transport the bell to Germany was sunk by the resistance. So after the war, the bell was returned to its former position, until a tower fire caused it to fall back down. In 2015, the bell was restored.
