Dutch Reformed Church Ameide - Ameide

N 51.9576539 / E 4.9625082

In the middle of the Zuid-Holland Ameide is the Dutch Reformed Church. It has been there for a long time, since the 15th century, and could tell a lot if the walls could speak for themselves. In the ears hangs a bell from 1608. In 1943 the bell was thrown out of the tower by the Germans, but the ship on which the bell was to be transported to Germany was sunk by the resistance. After the war the clock got its old spot again, until a fire in the tower caused it to fall down again. The clock was restored in 2015.
