Cheese farm van Veen - Zoeterwoude
Our hartenkaas (heart-shaped cheese) is unique! So unique in fact, it’s been patented. The first hearts were made in the spring of 2002. The idea behind it? The love for the region in which we live: the Groene Hart (Green Heart). Now we make these kilo and pound cheeses almost daily and we’ve expanded our assortment with a cheese in the shape of a tulip. And another thing we are proud of: we have a Royal Warrant. This designation is only granted to small companies that occupy a prominent place and are at least a hundred years old!
We provide guided tours for companies, family outings and schools. During the guided tours, we walk through the stables, talk about the cattle, we cuddle the calves and cows, look out over the landscape, and talk about the meadow grazing and the Weipoortse Vliet and the beautiful nature. In the cheese dairy, we sample the cheeses, explain the ancient cheese-making process and conclude with an educational film.
We provide coffee/tea/soft drinks, a simple or extensive farmer's lunch and various soups.
