Amsterdam Central Station - Amsterdam

N 52.3786982 / E 4.8989702

In 1869 the construction of Amsterdam Central Station was commissioned. First an artificial island had to be constructed in the IJ. After that, architects could start designing their design. The most famous of them is Pierre Cuypers, but he designed this monumental building together with A.L. van Gendt. Of course the building was extended over the years by different architects: Joseph Cuypers (indeed, the son of), Benthem Crouwel architects, TAK architects, MerkX, Powerhouse architects and Wiel Arets architects have made the building what it is today, without compromising the original design of Cuypers and Van Gendt.
