Amerongen Castle is one of the best preserved Dutch building s from the Golden Age thanks to the original state of the house, gardens and the collection. It boasts a rich family history spanning more than 700 years. Throughout the 18th and 19th century Amerongen Castle is provided with an exquisite collection of cupboards, china, silver, musical instruments and countless family portraits. This collection can still be admired today as Amerongen Castle now is a museum offering guided tours.

After WWI count of Aldenburg Bentinck grants residence to the fleeing emperor Wilhelm II. It was here that he signed his abdication. In May 1920 Wilhelm II moved to the nearby Huis Doorn. The surrounding gardens are breathtaking and feature a rose garden, a playhouse and a 300 year old oak tree.
