Diever, Dwingeloo
From the village green in the Drenthe village of Diever, you can enjoy all the splendour this province has to offer. When you think of Drenthe, you think of vast heaths, primeval forests, mills, dolmens, herds of sheep, meandering streams... In short, you can wander endlessly through immense nature reserves, ancient history and contemporary Drenthe culture. That is exactly what you will discover on this special cycle route. You will cycle through nature reserves such as the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, Holtingerveld, Hoekenbrink and Dwingelderveld and see that it has everything you expect and more. Do you cycle when the heath is in bloom? When the flock of sheep with the shepherd are out on an adventure? When the forest sheds its colourful autumnal attire, or rather when the forests slowly turn a beautiful shade of green again? You will visit charming villages such as Diever, Dwingeloo, Uffelte, Wapserveen and Wapse, each with its own attractions. Have you seen the radio telescope near Dwingeloo? Or the windmill near Diever? However, you will only have discovered the real Drenthe when you have seen a dolmen, so that is also included in this complete route.
