Cycle route Fun on the Salland Hill Ridge

Hop on your bikes with the whole family and head out together to explore the Sallandse Heuvelrug! This national park is a mix of large heathlands and forests. The rolling landscape means you can see far into the distance from the highest points! The most beautiful part is around the Holterberg. That’s where you’re going today, and not just to look at nature. You’ll also learn all about the landscape and the animals that live here. And we probably don’t need to tell you that nature is also a fantastic place to play... The nature museum tells you all about the Sallandse Heuvelrug through a collection of more than a thousand (stuffed) animals and its world-famous dioramas. Dioramas are like life-size viewing boxes. When you look inside, you see animals in scenes that you’d only spot in the wild with a lot of luck. Here, you can take your time and observe them closely. In Daantje Das’s play forest you can do fun and exciting challenges, all related to the forest. A bit too exciting for you? Then follow the frogs along the Big Frog Trail. With this family route, you’ll learn all about the nature of the Sallandse Heuvelrug – and how much fun you can have playing in it too. So put on your old trousers and get ready to get muddy!
