Cycle route Extraordinary Barendrecht
Barendrecht
This short cycle route lets you enjoy exceptionally pleasant and green Barendrecht. From the monumental village centre, you soon cycle into the polders and arrive at the Old Meuse. Here you will find a number of beautiful nature reserves. You will become acquainted with the Rhoonse and Carnisse Grienden, a unique area of protected nature. Pollard willows, ditches and marshy polders are not only beautiful to admire, they are also the habitat of the beaver. Who knows, you might even see traces of gnawing on the willows. You cycle along the Old Meuse and through beautiful nature. Get off your bike at junction 28 at the viewpoint. You used to be able to cycle across the bridge here, but beware: it is no longer there! If you look closely, you can still see the remains of the bridge on the other side. The Zuidpolder is also on the route. The polder landscape is interspersed with forest strips, reed beds and flowering grasslands. Fully rested in nature? Then enjoy the old village centre of Barendrecht around the old church.
