Immerse yourself in the war history around Den Bosch. During the Second World War this city suffered greatly. In the city and the surrounding region the war left its mark. With this cycle route you will visit many of these monumental places. There was heavy fighting to liberate the city from the German occupiers. It is estimated that 240000 grenades were fired during the liberation of Den Bosch, causing huge holes to be blasted into the city. The beautiful station building was lost and other buildings were badly damaged. But also during the occupation period this region suffered greatly. There were many fallen soldiers on both the British and the German side, many civilian casualties, not to mention the Jewish community. Almost the entire Jewish community of Den Bosch was deported to concentration and extermination camps. This route takes you to the places where the fighting between occupiers and liberators was most intense, both inside and outside the city of Den Bosch. For example in Berlicum, at the remains of the German trenches. Or the Memorial Site Haaren, which was used as a prison at the time. In Vught you will find the National Monument Camp Vught, the museum that commemorates the sad events of concentration camp Vught. All in all, a route that will leave a deep impression.
