You will cycle through beautiful Overijssel, where you will even make a short detour across the border to take a look at our German neighbours. During this route, you will cycle through peaceful nature and discover centuries-old villages. Be surprised by the town of Oldenzaal, where the Funnel Beaker Culture once found a home. Oldenzaal is built around the impressive Sint-Plechelmusbasiliek. In the 8th century, the holy monk Plechelmus had a church built here, which was replaced in the 12th century by a Romanesque building. The oldest parts of this basilica date back to that time. Step inside and admire the beautiful stained-glass windows with their magnificent colours. Do you prefer green surroundings? Then stop off at the Egheria Nature Reserve. Lanes, forest paths, streams and lush trees alternate and provide shelter for cheerful four-legged friends and singing birds. You can also spot beautiful birds from the observation tower over the Oelemars.
