This area is known for its beautiful, varied nature. The forests are interspersed with pieces of heathland and sand drifts. In Otterlo, you will find the Planken Wambuis viewpoint, which offers a view of an amazing nature area. You will also cycle through the Deelerwoud. Many different birds live here and there is a chance that you will spot wildlife. Nature safaris are even held regularly in the Deeler forest. The nature is peaceful now, but during the Second World War, this area was also the scene of fights. In Deelen, you will find the Deelen Air Base, where a museum is now on display. Here you will discover the history behind this airfield in the museum. On the outskirts of Arnhem you will also pass the Arnhems Oorlogsmuseum (Arnhem War Museum), where you can get an idea of the impact the war had on Arnhem and its surroundings.
