Cycle route around the Twiske
Landsmeer, Ilpendam
In the old peat area of Waterland lies the Twiske. In the middle of it lies the Stootersplas, formed by sand extraction for the area around the Coentunnel. The north side of the Twiske is mainly for nature lovers, the south side more for water sports. Around the water you experience all kinds of adventures! This route is a must for cycling with the family. Are you for example crazy about animals? During this cycle route you pass no less than three farms. Here you get to know all kinds of farm animals, such as cows, horses, pigs, chickens and more. If you or your children like a bit more excitement, then you’re in the right place at Climbing park Twiske. Put on your climbing trousers and let yourself be challenged over the different courses. But also at the Adventure playground you can climb, clamber and play with water. Enjoy the typical Dutch polders between the small peat village Ilpendam and Landsmeer. Who knows, you might even rent a small boat at the Visitor centre Ilpenveld to discover the beautiful area from the water. Tired but satisfied you can flop down at the hospitality spots along the way. That was a fun day! Around the Twiske there are several parking spots, such as at cycle junction 17.
