Poème Electronique, the French name of this sculpture, means 'Electronic Poem', but it is sometimes also called Objet Mathématique, which means 'Mathematical Object'. None other than Le Corbusier was commissioned by Philips to make this work of art. It is a multimedia project that was exhibited at the Expo 58 world exhibition in Brussels in 1958. Philips wanted to present progress and technical innovation as a work of art.
