Museum farm Mariahoeve - Putten

N 52.2809127 / E 5.5709199

The Mariahoeve is an example of the farms that came into being like mushrooms after 1900. Family farms of a few hectares of arable land for growing grain, potatoes and fodder beet, cows, pigs, chickens and a horse. Furthermore, a large vegetable garden and a small orchard. Due to mechanisation, economies of scale and specialisation, this type of farm disappeared in the last quarter of the last century as quickly as it had appeared at the time. What makes the Mariahoeve unique is that 'everything' is still there, as Maria left it. The furniture is still in place, clothes and linens are in the cupboards and in the basement are the filled weckflessen. Together with the story that the guide tells you, you can get an idea of how a peasant family lived and worked in the last century.
