Hilverbeek Estate - ’s-Graveland

N 52.239271 / E 5.130576

At many Dutch country estates they used to experiment with flowers, plants, trees and shrubbery. This also happened at Hilverbeek Estate, where its Amsterdam owner and wood merchant Hendrix Six introduced the first camellia to Holland. The camellia originates as a tea plant from far away Asia. The house itself is not open to visitors. The parks surrounding Hilverbeek Estate offer stunning walks. They are an excellent example of the gardens with differences in height of sight axes that were so typical of the early 19th-century gardens.
