Beer Museum Alkmaar - Alkmaar

N 52.6322537 / E 4.7507921

Beer has been the most popular alcoholic beverage in our regions for a few thousand years. But how is it brewed? What is malting, and why is yeast so important? National Beer Museum De Boom tells you all about it using tools, equipment and machines that have been used to brew 'the golden wet' for the past two hundred years. Antique means of transport such as a handcart and an ice sledge show how the beer barrels were transported. Posters and other advertising material, beer bottles and beer glasses give an impression of the many small and large Dutch beer breweries. The museum is located in the historical building of former brewery De Boom, near the famous Alkmaar cheese market. It was opened in April 1987 and had an official museum registration. The museum is managed and organised entirely by volunteers.
