The Batteries Poederoijen and Brakel are small fortifications that had to protect the older fortifications Loevestein and Woudrichem behind them. They are within walking distance of each other in the Bommelerwaard. Batterij Poederoijen still has the original access bridge and in the summer of 2017 there will be a new fort watchman's house with catering and terrace. The fort can be visited during guided tours.
